Just don’t make edits from here if possible. In Word 2007 or 2010 for Windows, click the File menu button> select options then click 'Proofing.' In Word 2008 or 2011 for Mac, go to the 'Word' menu, select 'Preferences. In Word 2003 for Windows or 2004 for Mac, go to the 'Tools' menu, select 'Spelling and Grammar ', and click 'Options '. Note that if you open the file you should be able to see all of your custom words. Open the custom dictionary settings for MS Word. Once you go into that directory you should see the CUSTOM.dic file, which is what you’ll want to back up and transfer to the same location on the other system… or you could put it somewhere else if you’d like, for instance in your Documents folder.

It still generates the (dysfunctional) bar code in later versions of Word. In Word 2007 and later the field generates a bar code but is not written for you by Word. An update rolling out to Office 365 users brings a new Editor task pane on the side of the document, which displays word recommendations and explanations for suggested words. In the file dialog, select the keyword file from your local PC or network file share, then select Open. Open the DLP policy you created (edit) then click the rules link on the left and finally click the plus sign drop down to create a new transport rule. Select Import, and select either From text or From csv depending on your keyword file type. This will bring up the screen where you can assign custom dictionaries, as well as see the full path to the current dictionary file.
